Dr. Todd Broder
Todd Broder, M.D, a board certified Adult and Forensic Psychiatrist, first demonstrated an interest in medicine after a personal battle with metastatic cancer as a young adult. With the help of a newly formed scholarship program through The American Cancer Society(ACS), Dr. Broder completed his undergraduate studies at University of Florida and Florida Atlantic University where he volunteered as a board member for a local branch of the ACS and pioneered local fundraising events for the organization.
Dr. Broder went on to graduate medical school as an alumnus from University of Florida where he also completed residency training and forensic fellowship training. University of Florida was among the first institutions in the nation to purchase a Neurostar TMS and Dr. Broder showed an early interest in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation(TMS) in 2009 when he was first trained to operate the equipment during residency.
In 2010, shortly after completion of his training, Flagler Hospital brought Dr. Broder on as a staff psychiatrist of the hospital’s 21 bed mental health unit. Dr. Broder has partnered with Flagler Hospital to staff the county’s community mental health clinic, establish and grow Flagler Hospital’s Intensive Outpatient Program, and ultimately to partner with Dr. Luing as Medical Director of the hospital’s mental health department. On one interview he commented, “I am honored and blessed to be part of such a special and close-knit community, and to serve a hospital which has proved to be a true community partner and support its mental health services.”
Dr. Broder is now very enthusiastic to offer the community a technologically advanced, proven treatment for depression at a standard of excellence!
Dr. Heather Luing
Heather Luing, MD, a board certified Adult and Forensic Psychiatrist and board certified Addiction Medicine physician, has been interested in a career in medicine since a young age. She attended Florida Atlantic University with a National Merit scholarship and earned a BS in microbiology summa cum laude. She also took part in pharmaceutical research in developing a cancer fighting agent as part of a polymer-based laboratory.
While attending medical school at University of Florida, Dr. Luing discovered her passion of psychiatry and behavioral health. She remained in Gainesville for residency training and fellowship and had a particular interest in affective disorders and neuromodulation. She spent her extra electives providing Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and learning about other forms on neuromodulation like TMS.
After completing training, she joined a community mental health center in nearby Ocala, Florida and quickly rose to the position of Chief Medical Officer (CMO). She had an opportunity to work in all aspects of the agency and get involved in helping to make changes to community mental health policy. She was later recruited to a for profit dual diagnosis program to help them transition from start up to multi-state agency as their medical director. In early 2016, Dr. Luing joined Dr. Broder at Flagler Hospital in St Augustine where they worked closely together to manage the hospital’s mental health department.
Dr. Luing felt the community was greatly in need of intensive treatment to address severe depression in a safe, outpatient way. The Florida Center for TMS was created as a way to help address this need. She is excited to offer compassionate care using advanced psychiatric modalities such as TMS.
Gabrielle Du Sablon, PA-C
Florida Center for TMS is proud to introduce our Physician Assistant, Gabrielle Du Sablon, PA-C. Shortly after obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences at the University of Central Florida, Gabrielle went on to complete her Master’s Degree as a Medical Science Physician Assistant from Nova Southeastern University. Both Dr. Luing and Dr. Broder were so impressed with her bedside manner, tenacity, and work ethic during her clerkship rotation at Flagler Hospital, she was asked to join the team upon graduation. Gabrielle works alongside our two psychiatrists in both the inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings at Flagler Hospital as well as Florida Center For TMS.
Ashton Garber is the TMS Technician at Florida Center for TMS. Ashton has her bachelor’s degree in Health Science and Spanish from Western Kentucky University. She is also a licensed EMT-B and worked for an ambulatory company and in a clinic prior to joining Florida Center for TMS. After the patients are evaluated by Dr. Luing and Dr. Broder, Ashton is the staff member who will be providing the TMS treatments. She is excited to be helping patients recover from depression and getting to witness the changes in their lives.
